Rencontres de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie, in collaboration with Loto-Qu\u00e9bec and the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art de Joliette<\/strong>, invites artists residing in Qu\u00e9bec to submit an original photographic project exploring one or more current aspects of the Lanaudi\u00e8re territory, known as Nitaskinan by the Atikamekw nation. A single artistic proposal will be selected. The images produced through this photographic mission will form part of a larger, ongoing collection aimed at documenting the contemporary Qu\u00e9bec landscape from original perspectives designed to provoke critical thought, reflection, surprise or wonder. The submission deadline is\u00a0June 21, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CONTEXT<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2016, this province-wide photographic mission is an initiative of Rencontres de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie. A distinctive feature of the project is the involvement of a local artistic partner <\/strong>in each region explored. The Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art de Joliette<\/strong> \u2014 a leading institution in the Lanaudi\u00e8re region recognized for its commitment to contemporary visual arts \u2014 was approached as the regional partner for this edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its launch, the project has produced nine original photographic bodies of work<\/strong> linked to eight regions of Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong>, all of which have been presented at the annual gathering of Rencontres de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n

The photographic mission is open exclusively to artists residing in Qu\u00e9bec<\/strong>. It must be carried out in the Lanaudi\u00e8re region between the summer and fall of 2026.<\/strong> The resulting work will be presented publicly \u2014 first in Joliette at the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art de Joliette<\/strong> in winter 2027<\/strong>, and then at the 18th edition of Rencontres de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie<\/strong> in summer 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proposals will be evaluated by a peer jury composed of artists and professionals from the Qu\u00e9bec photography community. The relevance of the approach in relation to the chosen subject(s), as well as the quality of the visual portfolio, will be the determining factors. The curatorial role for the project at the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art de Joliette will be assumed by Ma\u00e9li Leblanc-Carreau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artists wishing to submit a project must send in their application no later than June 21, 2026 at 11:59 PM (Qu\u00e9bec time)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
