Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie, in collaboration with the Centre culturel de Pasp\u00e9biac, invites the general public and everyone who took part in Natacha Clitandre\u2019s participatory-art residency in the Gasp\u00e9 this past April and May to an unveiling of the resulting work. It will take place on July 11 in a late-afternoon gathering at the Centre culturel de Pasp\u00e9biac with the artist in attendance.<\/p>\n
Natacha Clitandre is a Montreal-based artist who undertakes works based on field observations and on what anonymous people share with her about urban places and those undergoing a process of transformation. During her two-week residency in Pasp\u00e9biac she compiled maritime data in a digital logbook and explored the coastline in
\nsearch of geological data. She focused on perceptible geological matter and strata as well as on the waste deriving from human activity to turn it all into photographic details.<\/p>\n
In order to capture and document the evolution of the landscapes, the artist also sent out an invitation to the people of Pasp\u00e9biac and surroundings who might like to share their experience of the coast and of the changes perceived on a human scale. She collected detailed accounts in writing, in audio recordings or in photographs.
\nFurther to her encounters with the population, Natacha Clitandre created a compound work based on images, scientific data and narratives that give evidence of the recent transformation of the coast and that will be presented at the Centre culturel de Pasp\u00e9biac beginning July 11 on the occasion of the 10th Rencontres.<\/p>\n
Rencontres internationales de la photographie en Gasp\u00e9sie is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2019. An annual summertime event, it introduces the public to contemporary photographic creation, its language, its codes and its various esthetics through occupation of a particular region: the Gasp\u00e9 Peninsula. There it presents a series of exhibitions and installations, public events conceived as a space for reflection and initiation, and a program of artist residencies and of exchanges with festivals in other countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
